Only 70 km away from Curitiba, situated on the edge of the Cubatão river and at the foot of the Serra do Mar in Paraná, Morretes is a charming town, with a lot of history and well-preserved nature.

To begin your trip and enjoy the beautiful postcard landscapes, one option is to take the train over a route that passes the length of the centenary Morretes-Curitiba Railroad, which runs through the entire mountain set. You can enjoy the beauty of the mountains and have a privileged view of the Devil’s Throat canyon and the Véu da Noiva waterfall.

In the historic center of Morretes, you can enjoy squares, colonial architecture, and craft shops, with many items of basketwork. At the street Rua das Flores you can also enjoy historic houses, the zero mile marker, and the first Morretes telegraph.

Another location full of history that is worth visiting is the Matriz Nossa Senhora do Porto Church, located at the highest point of the city. There you will find a Via-Sacra oil-based painting by Theodoro de Bona, painter from Morretes, crosses and bells dating from centuries ago, and a classic clock that has worked since the foundation of the church.

At the foot of Serra do Mar, you can visit the Porto de Cima village, which holds historical vestiges, such as ruins of factories, mansions, and cobblestoned streets, besides a river beach with waters from the Nhundiaquara river.

Nature in Morretes fascinates its visitors and offers many tourist attractions for ecotourism and adventure tourism. The Pico do Marumbi State Park, recognized by Unesco as a world heritage site, comprises an incredible landscape of the Atlantic Forest, several trails, waterfalls and is ideal for the practice of mountaineering offering varying degrees of difficulty and climbing styles.

Another unmissable tourist attraction is the typical cuisine, such as the famous barreado, which is a meat boiled in a clay pot for almost 20 hours. The meat is shredded and is served with rice, cassava flour, bananas, and oranges.
