A Day of Sun and Sea in a Paradise near Aracaju

Aracaju

With warm, clear waters, shining sand, and an incredible view, Praia do Saco is an ideal day trip for those spending a few days in Aracaju.

Aracaju was the first planned capital of Brazil and is known for its beautiful beaches and catamaran tours. But the natural beauty is not limited to the capital of Sergipe. Just over 70 kilometers from the city, you will find a true paradise with coconut trees, dunes, and a blue sea that takes the breath away from all visitors.

Praia do Saco

Praia do Saco is considered one of the most beautiful beaches on the Sergipe coast. It has even been chosen by the people of Sergipe as the beach of the rich and famous. If you have a car, in just over an hour of driving, you will be in paradise. But if you don’t have a car, don’t worry! In Aracaju, several tours are offered that take you to Praia do Saco on a day trip, departing early and returning in the evening.

A day trip to paradise

By booking a tour, you will have the support of a local guide who will accompany the entire trip. The day starts around 7 am when the car arrives at your hotel. Upon boarding, the guide will give you all the information about the trip, tell stories about Aracaju, and, of course, about Praia do Saco.

Upon arriving at the beach, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the place. For those who like to stay in the middle of the hustle and bustle, the right side of the beach is the ideal option. There are several restaurants with tables overlooking the sea and easy access to the beach. Now, if you want rest and economy, it is worth taking a walk along the shore to the centenary Chapel of Our Lady of Good Voyage and sitting right there.

Enjoy the time to soak up the sun, take some dips in the sea, and relax. And at lunchtime, choose one of the beachfront restaurants and enjoy typical Sergipe cuisine rich in seafood.

Boat trip included in the experience

After having lunch by the sea, appreciating an incredible view, how about embarking on a boat trip? Sailing to the islands and sandbanks in the region, you will truly discover the beauties of the place. The boat leaves Praia do Saco and takes you to Sogra Island, Sogro Island, and Ponta do Saco. Some legends surround the islands, and the guide will tell you each one of them!

Sogra Island is a sandbank about 1 kilometer long and horseshoe-shaped. During the day, it is a beautiful deserted island, and in the evening, it is covered by water. At this stop, you will find delightful natural pools. On one side of the island, you can bathe in brackish water. On the other side, you will enjoy the open sea, where the water temperature is warmer. Enjoy every minute of this stop, as there is so much beauty to appreciate!

Next, the boat goes to Sogro Island. Although Sogra Island is more famous, Sogro Island’s beauty is not far behind. Like the first stop, the island is an immense sandbank surrounded by crystal-clear water. Both islands are deserted, so you can enjoy moments of peace while appreciating nature!

And the tour doesn’t end there. Leaving Sogro Island, the next stop is Ponta do Saco. Get ready to see the meeting of the sea with the Rio Real and be mesmerized by the mountains that make up the region’s scenery. From Ponta do Saco, you can also see the famous Mangue Seco beach. Prepare your camera and phone because this stop will give you many beautiful photos!

Leaving Ponta do Saco, the boat takes you back to Praia do Saco, where you can enjoy a little more before returning to Aracaju.

Buggy ride

The Praia do Saco region is ideal for a buggy ride. You can book the ride as soon as you arrive at the beach. Usually, the route has four stops and lasts about an hour and a half. One of the stops is at Praia da Rainha, followed by another at the open sea.

But the most anticipated moments of this ride are the viewpoints. The driver will take you to two points on top of the dunes where you will have beautiful panoramic views of the beach. At one of the viewpoints, there is an enchanting swing, which provides great photos and moments of contemplation. The white and fine sand makes the perfect setting for a photo session, so take advantage!

Tip: If possible, take this ride in the late afternoon. This way, you will be at one of the viewpoints admiring a breathtaking sunset.
