Palmas is the youngest capital of a Brazilian state, at just 34 years old. Nestled in the heart of the state of Tocantins, the city holds some tourist treasures, such as the Waterfalls of Taquaruçu. Taquaruçu

Taquaruçu is a district of Palmas and is located 30km from the state capital. The ecological city is known for its privileged nature, especially its circuit of breathtaking waterfalls. It is there that you will find the Escorrega Macaco, Roncadeira, and Evilson waterfalls.

Hit the Road

You can visit all three waterfalls in a single day. The tour starts at 9 a.m. when the car with the guide picks you up at the hotel. You will head towards the Escorrega Macaco Waterfall, which is the first stop on the circuit. The trail to reach the waterfall is 1,500 meters long, with a flight of stairs consisting of 130 steps.

All the effort will be worth it because the waterfall is beautiful! Since it is on the trail to the next waterfall, it is a great opportunity to rest a bit. Take lots of photos to capture the moment.

From there, the next stop is the Roncadeira Waterfall. It is approximately 70 meters high and flows into a natural pool perfect for a refreshing swim! The formation of the site is beautiful, with rock walls and native forest complementing the scenery. It’s sensational!

Oh, and you can go behind the waterfall and contemplate it from a totally new angle! And for the more adventurous, you can even practice rappelling there!

Lunch Break

After swimming in the Roncadeira Waterfall, you will have a well-deserved lunch in the town of Taquaruçu. Take the opportunity to try the region’s typical foods at the various welcoming restaurants in the city!

Evilson Waterfall

Fed and rested, the tour continues to the last attraction of the day: the Evilson Waterfall. Considered by many to be the most beautiful in the entire region, the large volume of water forms a unique and lush landscape! It’s impossible not to be amazed!

The waterfall is 25 meters high and forms a stunning natural pool. The vegetation is also a highlight, with species from the Cerrado, Caatinga, and Amazon rainforest forming an impressive sight, leaving everyone speechless.

Dive in, take photos, and enjoy every minute contemplating this paradise! From here, the guide will take you back to Palmas, and the day ends in the late afternoon as you arrive back at the hotel.
