Enjoy Recife’s Beauties While Cycling

Recife

Cycling from Boa Viagem Beach to the São José Market is a dive into history and incredible landscapes

Cycling is one of the most enjoyable ways to explore a destination. Waking up early, grabbing a bike, and riding through various points in Recife, enjoying the beautiful landscapes, the sea breeze, and learning all about the city’s history, is a must-do for tourists visiting the capital of Pernambuco.

Urban Beaches and Fishing Village

Starting to cycle early in the southern part of the city, you can enjoy the tranquility of the famous urban beaches of Boa Viagem, Pina, and Brasília Teimosa. On this tour, you will visit a fishing village that still retains cultural characteristics passed down from generation to generation.

Leaving there, the next destination is to cycle along the famous reefs that give the city its name and offer one of the most beautiful views of Recife. This is a great moment to contemplate the city’s natural beauties and take many photos.

And it doesn’t end there. The Francisco Brennand Sculpture Park was inaugurated in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil and is a guaranteed stop on this tour. You will be enchanted by the open-air art museum with 90 sculptures by one of Pernambuco’s main visual artists. The park’s main piece is the Crystal Tower, 32 meters high, made of clay and bronze, inspired by a flower. Near the tower are five mermaids, each representing a century since the discovery of our country.

Recife Antigo

Aboard a small boat, you will cross the river towards Recife Antigo, the central part of the city. In this area, you can visit the Marco Zero square, the Pernambuco Handicraft Center, the famous Bom Jesus Street, the Giant Puppets Embassy of Olinda, the Cais do Sertão museum, the Paço Alfândega, the Recife City Museum, and much more.

By bike, you can get lost in the streets of the historic neighborhoods, cycle over Recife’s bridges, and enjoy the banks of the Capibaribe River. To end this tour, nothing beats a stop at the São José Market, the city’s most iconic street market. This is a great place to buy a souvenir of the trip to take home.
