Practice Water Sports on the Paradisiacal Beaches of Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara

Jericoacoara is more than just a tourist destination. It is an immersion experience in nature, Brazilian culture, and water sports.

Among dunes and beaches of golden sand, sea of crystalline waters, and coconut trees swaying gently in the wind, lies Jericoacoara. The fishing village is located on the coast of the state of Ceará and is one of the most paradisiacal destinations in Brazil. Jeri, as it has been nicknamed, enchants with its untouched beauty, local hospitality, and delicious gastronomy, ensuring unforgettable experiences for visitors.

Water Sports

During your stay in Jeri, you will enjoy the beaches, watch the sunset from the top of Sunset Dune, walk along the beach to the famous Pedra Furada, and visit paradisiacal places like Lagoa Paraíso, Lagoa Azul, and Lagoa da Tatajuba. But besides all this, Jeri is a great destination for water sports enthusiasts.

With winds that are a magnet for practitioners of water sports that depend precisely on weather conditions, Jericoacoara has become a hub for athletes and water sports enthusiasts. You can venture out with kitesurfing, hydrofoil, kitewave, and wingfoil.

Modalities

In kitesurf freestyle, you will learn to perform radical maneuvers, to jump simple or more technical with our instructors. In kitewave, it will be possible to improve your techniques and learn to sail with the kite on the waves. At high tide, you can even explore good places with waves, especially during the downwind to Jeri.

Hydrofoil is a great option for sailing with a board and a keel in the shape of a “T”. There’s just one detail: you stay in the air. That’s right, out of the water! The only contact you will have with the water is when you fall. In the case of this modality, you need to have previous experience with kitesurfing and surfing.

In wingfoil, you will glide over the water using an inflatable wing and a stand-up paddle or surfboard with a foil. The experience will provide other sensations, greater possibilities of maneuvers, and dropping big waves or swells.

Preá Beach

With strong winds, Preá Beach is the ideal destination for sports practice. It is located 11 kilometers from the village of Jeri, in the neighboring city of Cruz. But don’t worry, the path is easy, and the journey is well worth it!

Practitioners of all levels can venture into the waters of Preá Beach. Course options range from basic for beginners to classes for those who already have control over the sail and board and can perform some maneuvers in the water. Classes can also be individual or in groups. Choose the option that best suits your profile and enjoy!

Children are also very welcome! Classes for the little ones focus on a more playful learning, so they can have much more fun in the water.

About the Class

The duration of the courses varies between 1 and 12 hours, depending on the modality you choose to practice. The meeting with the teacher is on the beach sand. There, he will start teaching you the theoretical part of the chosen sport.

You will learn to assemble equipment, understand about wind and its action on kitesurfing, know the safe areas for practicing the sport, and much more.

Moving on to practical information, you will understand the safety system, how to control the kite, take off, and land safely, and even how to generate force with the kite in the water.

After that, just dive into the water and put all the knowledge into practice. Enjoy every moment of this incredible experience!

Stay Tuned!

The ideal time for water sports in Jeri is from July to December, when the windy season occurs. Another important point is that classes can be with instructors who speak other languages such as English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian. For safe practice, always look for accredited companies and teachers. In Jericoacoara, there are schools with national and international certifications – such as IKO (International Kiteboarding Organization) and ABK (Brazilian Kitesurfing Association).
